More companies are beginning to understand the importance of sustainable office design, a new survey has revealed.
Businesses across the US, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, the UK, Spain and Japan have participated in a global poll by GE Capital Real Estate which determined there is a growing call for green measures in the workplace.
It found that 50 per cent of those surveyed believe a building's energy efficiency and water conservation measures are a high priority when choosing office interior space.
"We've seen distinct and increasing interest in sustainability across our global tenant base," said Michael Rowan, president of global asset management at GE Capital Real Estate.
Elsewhere, David Craven, senior associate for sustainability at Woods Bagot, recently told attendees of green expo Sustainability Now in London that the introduction of the CRC scheme is not yet viewed as a major driver for sustainable office design for UK firms.
