Green offices for Lancaster
22-02-2008
Lancaster is set to receive new eco-friendly offices in a development that is hoped to attract more than 60 businesses to the area.Time & Tide Commercial's The Green is a sustainable office design project that forms part of a £71 million regeneration of its Halton Mills site, the Lancaster Guardian reports.
Planning permission for the sustainability development was granted last August, with the building designed to enable businesses to minimise their carbon footprints.
Eco-friendly features include ground source heat pumps, grey water systems, passive ventilation and provision for solar panel power sources.
The timber used in the project is also sustainably sourced and local slate has been used for roofing and other purposes.
John Asplin, managing director for the firm, said: "We are very excited about The Green. It represents everything that Time & Tide stands for in terms of innovation and responsible development."
The development is supported by Lancashire Rural Futures, which is part of a funding programme to aid the regeneration of the countryside economy throughout the region.
