Green offices for Reading
07-03-2008
A new sustainable office design development is underway that will grant Reading one of the most environmentally sound commercial facilities in the Thames Valley. The new £100 million redevelopment of Winnersh Triangle will involve the creation of 191,000 sq ft of flexible office layouts that produce less than half the level of carbon emissions of normal offices.
Construction work has already begun on phase one of the project, with heat recovery systems expected to recycle up to 85 per cent of office emissions, Get Reading reports.
Other energy saving initiatives include water cooling systems for reduced-energy air conditioning and peripheral infra-red lighting which reacts to physical movement in order to cut emissions when facilities are empty.
In other sustainable office design news, a number of developers have recently been vying for the opportunity to construct the London headquarters of some of the UK's leading environmental organisations.
Design Week reports that work will begin on The Greenhouse project in March of next year.
