Hague opens eco-office in Yorkshire

William Hague has opened a brand new eco-office in upper Wensleydale, Yorkshire.
The 22 million offices were funded equally by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA).
Children from local schools joined in to plant commemorative trees and the MP for Richmanshire unveiled a flagstone to mark the opening.
The office design is bursting with 'green' features. Firstly one of the meeting rooms is built into a grass bank to minimise the visual impact of the building and to conserve energy.
Secondly piping buried into the soil is heated naturally and then taken under the building to heat the floors. The roof is also built with grass to provide natural insulation.
The national park northern department has moved into the offices where they can continue to maintain the condition of the dales national parkland.
The main objectives of the YDNPA are to conserve the natural beauty of the area and to promote enjoyment and protection amongst the parks visitors.
