Harborough district council officials are currently considering plans to carry out a major office relocation project for the authority's staff.
Local paper the Lutterworth Mail has reported that the council is considering moving to the Airfield Farm business park from its present headquarters on Adam and Eve Street in Harborough.
"While the opportunity was there we thought why not grab on to it and see if it offers us anything. At this stage it's really just about opening the door and seeing what's out there," Conservative council leader Alistair Swatridge told the paper.
Meanwhile, the Audit Commission recently recommended that local councils should look to pool their office interior space with other organisations in order to improve sustainable office design and cut costs.
Bharat Shah, deputy chair of the Audit Commission, stated that the recession is a good time for councils to look at ways which they can run their offices more efficiently.
