22-01-2008
A spokesperson for the British Council for Offices (BCO) has stated that few firms are involved in post-occupancy evaluations, because most companies view their property simply in terms of cost.He advises that if businesses were to instead view it as an investment in their staff, they could improve productivity and save money, reports PersonnelToday.
Richard Kauntze, chief executive for the BCO comma also stated the improvements that can be made in staff retention and reductions in absenteeism rates.
Mr Kauntze adds that it is important to engage staff in post-occupancy evaluations.
He advises that "people will be much more likely to engage and be positive about relocating "if businesses discuss reasons for going open plan or building a canteen, for example.
The BCO was established in 1990 and aims to enhance the understanding of its member in regard to a range of staff issues, with a view to creating a more productive office space.
