MP for Dudley South Ian Pearson has been unveiled as the new construction minister, as part of Gordon Brown's recent cabinet reshuffle.
He replaces the outgoing Baroness Vadera as head of the department for business, enterprise and regulatory reform, following her appointment to the post of minister for economic competitiveness and small business.
Mr Pearson told the office industry news source Devono: "We have got to ensure financial stability and banking support for business."
He is the eighth MP to hold this post since 2001 and follows Ms Vadera who was appointed in January this year.
Meanwhile, Defra's new flagship sustainable office design has been awarded the highest BREEAM rating of Excellent for its level of sustainability and environmental impact.
It achieved a pass rate of 80.72 per cent and is to be used to showcase how sustainable UK offices can be built in the future.
