Incentives needed 'to encourage green improvements'

More incentives are needed to urge companies to embrace sustainable office design and to drive forward green practices in the workplace, it has been claimed.
Dan Ilett, editor in chief of Greenbang.com, said a shift in sustainability is reliant on the government putting more emphasis on this area and making it easier and more affordable for companies to clean up their acts.
He commented: "A lot of the emphasis on clean tech projects in this country have been about energy generation from renewables and that area certainly has hit a wall trying to extend - there aren't necessarily enough incentives for people or companies to get involved with it."
According to a recent survey by Ernst and Young, just 13 per cent of UK businesses believe the coalition government will establish the conditions for success in the clean tech sector in 2011, compared with 38 per cent from a similar survey undertaken between August and October last year.
