14-05-2008
A major office layout is being planned for Inverness, it has been revealed.Proposals for an 18,000 sq ft open space development have been submitted by Upland Developments to Highland council - which if approved would be the first office construction to take place in the city centre for several years.
The building, which is to be located on Rose Street, would be four-storeys high and incorporate 6,000 sq ft of retail space on its ground floor, the Press and Journal reports.
Charles Barbour, development manager of Upland Developments, said: "There is a lack of the right quality of offices in the city centre."
"A lot are older stock that doesn't readily meet the needs of modern office occupiers."
The office design forms part of a £35 million regeneration project within the Scottish city.
He added that if planning permission is granted, the office fitout is expected to completed by spring 2009.
Last week, real estate firm Cusham and Wakefield reported that office interiors in Edinburgh are becoming increasingly in demand.
