LEED green building programme 'seeing steady growth'

There has been steady growth in the number of retail businesses that getting involved in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) initiative led by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), it has been claimed.Among the companies that have recently committed to meet LEED standards is Target, which has revealed its plan to establish a pair of trading outlets in the US that focus on environmental sustainability.
Sustainable office design has become a major concern for businesses across America and the innovations to be trialled by Target at its new facilities will include low-energy air conditioning and ventilation systems, PSFK reports.
According to PSFK, which describes itself as being a trends and innovation agency, Target will also be aiming to ensure that much of the materials its uses in the construction of it new buildings will be made from raw materials and where possible be recycled.
The USBGC operates as a not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote sustainable office design among its 13,500 building industry members around the world.
