Leeds office design market at five-year high

The uptake of office space in Leeds hit a five-year high in 2009, a new report by CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) has shown.
In total, the city saw modern office design uptake of 496,200 sq ft over the course of the year, with one of the largest developments being a 56,000 sq ft deal for Yorkshire Water at Clarence House.
"Whilst the public sector remains a key source of demand in Leeds, it was in fact the business services sector who took the most significant market share, accounting for 29 per cent of all space let in the 78 deals of 2009," commented Jonathan Shires, director of office agency for CBRE Leeds.
Elsewhere, Property Week recently reported Wilton Developments has received the green light for the construction of a new office building in Leeds city centre.
The £10 million office design project at 10 South Parade will provide 36,000 sq ft of office space when completed and should be fully up and running by autumn this year.
