Plans for the creation of a new five-storey office block have been given the go-ahead as part of a regeneration scheme for Leeds city centre.
Local officials have given the green light to early development plans at Kirkstall Road and Wellington Road on the former site of Yorkshire Chemicals, the Guardian reports.
It will incorporate new office interior space, an underground and multi-storey car park, restaurants and leisure facilities, as well as new apartments, town houses and flats.
Head of planning services Martin Sellens told the newspaper: "It's hoped that this plan will act as a catalyst to help regenerate that whole area off Kirkstall Road."
Further changes may be on the cards for the development, however, as some councillors voiced their concerns over a lack of greenery in the area, although city and Hunslet Labour councillor Elizabeth Nash told the publication that the area is presently an "eyesore" and should be developed as soon as possible.
Elsewhere, the Opus 40 Business Park in Warwick recently moved a step closer to its goal of expansion after permission for office construction work was granted to Opus Land, the Birmingham Post reported.
