Liverpool announces record office interior lettings

Liverpool has recorded a bumper year for office lettings, with record levels being witnessed in 2009.

According to the Liverpool Commercial Office Market Review carried out by Professional Liverpool and commissioned by Liverpool Vision, the city saw almost three quarters of a million (720,000) sq ft of modern office design lettings last year, up from the 2008 level of 540,000 sq ft.

One of the largest lettings to take place in 2009 was the signing of a 15-year lease for the UK Border Agency to move into 220,000 sq ft at premises on Old Hall Street.

Jim Gill, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, commented: "Liverpool is still well positioned to resume its growth once the global economic situation recovers, but the private sector is yet to return fully to the market."

Elsewhere, the administrative department for Liverpool FC recently announced it is preparing to move its staff to new premises at Rumford Investments' 20 Chapel Street building in Liverpool city centre.
