Liverpool 'needs grade A developments'

Developers have been urged to take on new projects in the Merseyside area in order to keep the region fresh and attractive to new companies.
LDP Business has reported that Nick Rice, of CB Richard Ellis, has commented that a decline in the number of new developments in the north-west city could lead to stagnation and a loss of business, as firms look elsewhere to set up.
Mr Rice told the newspaper: "The fact is there will always be occupiers who will prefer brand new space to refurbished ... The danger is that, when there is no Grade A space available, the market could go to sleep."
He added that the concern is that following a number of high-profile office uptakes in recent months, the supply of new property is dwindling and something needs to be done to ensure supply from 2011 onwards.
Meanwhile, Merseyside's transport executive, Merseytravel, recently announced that it is set to move to a new office interior at Mann Island.
The organisation is to take up residence at the 140,000 sq ft building, which offers office areas spread out over 11 floors.
