Liverpool office demand 'outstripping supply'

A shortage of grade A office interior space is being seen in Liverpool, it has been revealed.
Mike Stares, director of Rumford Investments, claimed that blue chip firms are not moving to the city due to an inability to find grade A premises.
He noted that with headline rents of £18 per sq ft, it is not economically viable for developers to create new grade A accommodation in the city.
"If you want to attract occupiers from outside, then you will need more Grade A space, but rents under £20 per square feet are not going to pay for new-build," Mr Stares commented.
Meanwhile, British Council of Offices chief executive Richard Kauntze recently argued that demand for top-quality office space in the capital could help to create jobs in the construction sector over the coming years.
He stated that the position of London on the global stage as a centre for finance and business excellence means that companies will always be attracted to setting up offices there.
