Local planners in Rochdale have approved the construction of a new low-energy office interior complex.
The building has been designed with sustainability at its core and according to environmental consultant Hilson Moran, the final structure will be six per cent more energy efficient than the required standard for naturally ventilated buildings in the UK.
A completion date of summer 2010 has been scheduled for the development.
Simon Ramsden, divisional director at Hilson Moran, told the Manchester Evening News: "The analysis and assessment work undertaken by our design teams has played a key role in achieving a building with the potential to significantly cut carbon emissions in use."
Elsewhere in the region, Manchester city council has announced plans to relocate its staff to a new 150,000 sq ft office interior at Allied London's Spinningfields development.
According to Property Week, the move has been orchestrated to accommodate the £150 million refurbishment of the town hall complex and its surrounding buildings.
