Software company Microsoft has set a property rental record for Edinburgh after signing a 15-year lease on office space in the Scottish city.
The move will see the company occupy part of the Waverley Gate development project, a comprehensive office refit designed with sustainability in mind.
A spokesperson from Microsoft told the Scotsman that it will be an important move for the company and that it shows the company's commitment to growth in Scotland.
He added that Waverley House's sustainable office design would create an ideal environment for the company.
The deal will provide an office layout of 12,100 sq ft for a record-breaking £362,000 a year.
The move follows a general trend of commercial property growth throughout Scotland which analysts predict will break all previous records in 2008.
Rental prices in Glasgow have risen 5.5 per cent in the last year, according to Lambert Smith Hampton.
