The Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) is to create a new technology park that will include a focus on sustainable office design.
Situated near Nuneaton on the A5 and to the north-west of Hinckley, the £250 million project will be built on a 750-acre site and will include a state-of-the-art engineering centre and business centre. The company hopes to attract up to 2,000 new jobs to the area.
Commercial director of MIRA Technology Park Terry Spall said: "Whilst our work is at the cutting edge of what is possible using technology, we have many buildings, including our main office block, that date back to the 1950s and despite improvements over the years they are environmentally inefficient and far from ideal."
Elsewhere, the five-storey Fred Perry House in Stockport also recently received a boost to its sustainability credentials after receiving a BREEAM rating of Excellent.
The property is run by Stockport Council and is the first building of its type to have received this accreditation in the borough.
