Network Rail has announced it has been given the green light for the creation of a new headquarters in Milton Keynes.
The company is to build a new 400,000 sq ft modern office design structure that will act as the organisation's national base of operations. The headquarters have been earmarked for construction on the site of a former hockey stadium in the town.
Network Rail chief executive Iain Coucher said: "Network Rail has made a big commitment to Milton Keynes in choosing the city as the home of our new national centre."
He added the property will be one of the greenest in the UK when it is completed.
Elsewhere, construction firm JF Finnegan recently announced it is to begin work on a new 200,000 sq ft mixed-use office and retail project in Sheffield city centre. The development will also incorporate the building of a 60-bed hotel at the former Laycast Foundry Works in Woodhouse Mill.
