'More than nine-tenths' of office staff are stressed
19-10-2007
Some 92 per cent of office-based workers are stressed, new research by a recruitment firm has indicated.A study by Badenoch & Clark has also suggested that nearly a third (32 per cent) of such employees feel pressure habitually and eight per cent feel stressed all the time.
Main causes of anxiety in office-workers include a heavy workload (52 per cent), the inefficiency of others (47 per cent) and demanding clients (36 per cent).
Director of Badenoch & Clark Neil Wilson commented: "Employers need to consider the impact of stress on their employees and look at ways they can work together to help address the issue.
"Not only does stress affect a person's health, it also impacts their productivity and attitude at work," he added.
A study recently reported that employees working in an open-plan office reported lower levels of stress and more enthusiasm than co-workers who were sited in a "battery-style" office layout with cramped cubicles.
