Lara Conaway, sustainable design manager at Morgan Lovell, has offered advice to firms regarding green office refurbishment practices at this year's EcoBuild event in London.
The expo took place at Earls Court from Tuesday, March 3rd to Thursday, March 5th and Ms Conaway gave guidance regarding compliance with energy performance certificates and legislation and what BREEAM ratings really mean.
Other speakers at the sustainable design showcase included Michael Heseltine, Alastair Campbell, Michael Portillo, housing minister Margaret Beckett and the mayor of London Boris Johnson.
Exhibits included a zero-carbon house and the 'solar city' - which highlighted options for the design of towns that are heated and powered solely by renewable energy sources.
Meanwhile, John Alker, of the UK Green Building Council, recently urged the government to extend its green building initiatives to cover non-residential and commercial properties across the UK.
He noted that more needs to be done to implement new policies regarding sustainable design and construction.
