Morgan Lovell explains how to beat the winter blues

In the run-up to Christmas, winter weather makes the days increasingly dark and offices can feel increasingly gloomy.

Tips include cleaning windows and clearing clutter from around them, changing the main lighting to 'day-light' bulbs, painting a wall red to stimulate energy and installing a large natural springtime or summery image.

Project designer at the firm Karen Hamilton explains that it is important to keep staff stimulated during the colder part of the year as productivity can tail off in the afternoons as nights draw in.

"Managers should look at getting as much natural light into the building as possible and introducing items such as a large summery image to keep spirits raised," she adds.
