Huddersfield University has announced plans for a new £12 million business centre that will supply office space to more than 90 small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
According to the Need Office Space blog, the premises will offer 70 individual office interior spaces and up to six laboratories. It will also provide three engineering workshops and will be spread over a 3,900 sq m site in the city.
"We want the centre to be more than just another office space. It will have infrastructure and facilities and initiatives that will generate innovation across supply chains from SMEs to large corporates and our own start-ups," commented Dr Liz Towns-Andrews, the university’s director of research and enterprise.
Elsewhere, up to four million sq ft of office space has been given planning approval at the new £4.5 billion Cricklewood business development in central London.
Joint venture partners Hammerson and Standard Life Investments are heading the project, with funds for the scheme also being supplied by Brent Cross Cricklewood Development Partners.
