New govt office interior space for Manchester

The former Mayfield Good station near Manchester's Piccadilly station has been earmarked as the site for a new 5,000 sq ft modern office design space.
Crain's Manchester Business reported property consultant Drivers Jonas and architect Bennetts Associates have put in place a strategic regeneration framework for the site which, once completed, will act as a relocation for Westminster officials as part of plans to make government more regionally-based.
Liz Meek, regional director for Government Office for the North West, said: "The benefits of the proposed civil service campus are clear. We are able to create greater efficiencies by redeveloping government land at the same time as regenerating an important part of the city centre."
Elsewhere, the publication recently reported insurance firm Merlin Claims is to carry out an office relocation project to new premises in Manchester.
The firm has signed a deal for 8,820 sq ft at Magnum House on Portland Street.
