NG Bailey - the Scottish building services provider - has unveiled plans to relocate to an office building in Strathclyde which is to be "as sustainable as possible".
New Builder reports that green technologies including ground source heating pumps, a ground water cooling system and solar thermal insulation have all been incorporated into the design.
Located at Strathclyde Business Park, the development has been awarded an excellent rating by BREEAM and is expected to save the company around £50,000 per annum in heating bills.
Another feature of the design is the use of photovoltaic glass in the building's foyer, which is expected to create 350kWh of free electricity every six weeks.
Meanwhile, in Birmingham, a firm has achieved BREEAM's highest certification for sustainability - excellent - for a new office complex at Bath Row in the city centre.
The Birmingham Post has reported that Langley Point is a new grade A office development which utilises a range of energy-saving features in its design.
