Sustainable office design has been at the forefront of new office construction in Bristol in recent years and none more so than in the latest project - the WestOne park that includes Horizon House, the Environment Agency's (EA) new headquarters.
Providing 30,000 sq ft of new office space, the building will emit up to five times less carbon emissions than a similar construction in the 1960s and will be approximately 20 per cent cheaper to run for the EA.
"WestOne is a great example of how putting the environment at the top of the design brief doesn't have to be expensive and can in fact cut costs to the occupier," commented Adrian Slade, project director at Westmark.
The property received a BREEAM rating of 80.4 per cent.
Elsewhere in the city, BDS Consultants & Actuaries has carried out an office relocation to new premises at Canard Court on St George's Road.
Company director James Stanfield said that the new building offers a "very different working environment" as it is completely open plan and is in a more central location in the city.
