Derby City Council has announced plans for a new headquarters that could cost up to £34 million.
Construction Enquirer reports the council is set to move into a new premises after it received a bill for £14 million to complete a maintenance backlog on its existing office space.
The council has been in its present office space since the Second World War and hopes the new premises will help improve sustainability for the organisation and boost its staffing capacity from 500 to 1,900.
Office construction is set to get underway early 2011 and the project is due for completion by the end of the following year.
Meanwhile, the Daily Echo reported Elizabeth II Court in Winchester recently received a BREEAM Excellent award for its sustainable office refurbishment.
The £40 million refurb project was also cited as one of the Carbon Trust's top low-carbon buildings and is the new home of Hampshire County Council.
