New office layout for Ipswich shipping firm

A modern office design has had its foundations laid in Ipswich as an international shipping company brings its workforce home.

Mediterranean Shipping Company UK is extending its headquarters at Ransomes Europark so it can accommodate its 350-strong local workforce at one site, says the East Anglian Daily Times.

The £4.7 million state-of-the-art green office design will be constructed using eco-friendly materials and includes a wind turbine to lower the company's carbon footprint.

Company chairman David Petchey said: "At the moment we have got around about 350 people in the Ipswich area, but they are not all in the building because we have not got room in this building."

The company employs about 520 people across the UK; the local workforce can expect to move into their new office layout in October.

Meanwhile transport police officers in Ipswich have undertaken an office relocation to Essex as the local station is altered, according to local newspaper the Evening Star.
