News International leaving Wapping
Office design news from Morgan Lovell
Published on 06-09-2011
News International has said it is about to carry out a major office relocation, moving out of its Wapping headquarters and into its neighbouring base in Thomas More Square, east London.
The company blamed "market conditions" on its decision not to do an office refurbishment at its site in Wapping, which its parent company News Corporation had announced back in 2008.
Instead it will develop a "new campus" to house its UK press operations, as well as its other businesses Harper Collins, MySpace, Dow Jones and Fox.
A statement by News International read: "Thomas More Square provides the company with excellent facilities and flexibility. As a result, and in light of current market conditions, News International has decided not to proceed with re-modelling the Wapping site."
It said the move will be complete by next year.
