Norfolk to gain first green office layouts

Norfolk looks set to see its first office layout development that focuses from day one on environmental concerns, according to reports.

The Building Partnerships company is behind the plans that it says will see a new business area established.

This will give small and medium-sized enterprises from Norfolk a chance to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.

Among the design features of the planned buildings are recycling facilities, areas for bicycles to be stored and tree planting plots, Norwich Evening News reports.

In addition, the site earmarked for the office layouts is close to a train station, which it is hoped will encourage less carbon-heavy commuting.

Andrew Boswell, from the Norfolk County Council, said: "We very much welcome these kinds of schemes.

"What we need to be doing is moving much more towards onsite renewable energy generation."

Last month, the same newspaper reported on the opening of a new office base to be used by the Norwich and Norfolk Voluntary Services organisation.
