Office construction work has begun at the new Cobalt Park in North Shields.
A new five-storey building containing 63,000 sq ft of office interior space is now under development and special focus is being placed on making the property as environmentally friendly as possible.
"We are delighted to be starting this next phase of development at Cobalt, which demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in the north-east," commented Mark Ashall, of Highbridge Properties.
Mayor of North Tyneside Linda Arkley added that the project has the potential to create an additional 700 jobs in the region and the high-quality office accommodation that is under construction will help place the borough as an attractive prospect for businesses in the future.
The developer also aims to create an additional one million sq ft of office space over the coming five years.
Elsewhere, 16,000 sq ft of new grade A office space is being constructed in Merseyside at Liverpool Innovation Park. The £4 million project is being funded by Space North West and the European Regional Development Fund.
