Office boost for Liverpool tech firms
02-04-2008
Technology firms in Liverpool could be set to for a considerable boost in the shape of a laboratory construction and a subsequent office fitout, according to reports.Government funding worth close to £25 million is expected to enable the extension of an existing technology research facility in Daresbury and hopes are high that the development will bring more business to the area.
Research currently being carried out at the site is cutting-edge science and the organisations behind the project are convinced that demand for modern office design remains high in the near-by areas.
The Liverpool Daily Post cites an unnamed government source as saying: "This will be a £25m investment that will create more than 1,000 new jobs by attracting hi-tech companies to the campus."
Last month, the newspaper reported that the success of Liverpool-based Mayfield Construction in landing office building contracts last year gave its parent company the McKean Group a notable turnover boost.
