Planning permission has been granted for the creation of new office design space at the Wirral Waters project in Merseyside.
The project will likely cost up to £4.5 billion and has ambitious plans for the regeneration of the area.
In total, the scheme will see up to 4.5 million sq ft of research and development and office space being erected as part of the regeneration scheme, with approximately 15 million sq ft of mixed-use space also being granted approval.
Council leader Jeff Green said: "We can now look forward to the site's transformation over the coming years to help improve the economic fortunes of the borough and that of its residents."
Wirral Waters claims to be the largest regeneration project currently underway in the UK.
The scheme's developer has stated that the project will help to create up to 20,000 new permanent jobs in Merseyside and aims to bring significant investment to the heart of the region.
