The regeneration of office space in the city centre of Derby could become a reality following the launch of new plans for the area.
Friar Gate Goods Yard has lain derelict for almost half a century and plans are now afoot for the building of new office, retail and residential properties at the site.
Andrew Bock, director at the firm behind the development, said: "This is a very significant project for us and for the city. It won't be easy to deliver but having met with Derby City Council we are optimistic and we hope to get planning consent in the autumn."
He added that if the project is not taken up by local planners, then the area could face another 50 years of dereliction.
Meanwhile, the Motor Industry Research Association recently highlighted its own plans for the redevelopment of office space at its Nuneaton business park.
The organisation is proposing a £300 million overhaul of the office interior space at the premises in order to deliver more sustainable office design space for tenants in the future, Offices.org.uk reports.
