Helical Bar has put forward plans for the construction of 270,000 sq ft of new office space in the City of London.
The plans for the company's 1 Mitre Square development have been given the go-ahead by local officials, with the building set to be 20-storeys high and offering floor plates of 17,000 sq ft.
Gerald Kaye, director of Helical Bar, said: "This is an exciting scheme with an excellent floor plate. The environment around the building will be much improved with a major upgrade of the public realm."
He added that the company feels the project will see strong interest once completed, as medium-term forecasts for the office sector in the City look favourable.
Helical Bar was founded in 1919 and was originally known as the Helical Bar Engineering Company. The firm specialises in property development and investment and earlier this year reported profit before tax of £7.9 million.
