The impact of well-thought-out, flexible office design cannot be underestimated in the modern workplace, it has been claimed.
Gary Wingrove, head of construction programme management at BT Group Property and incoming president of the British Council for Offices, said the way offices now work is vastly different to that seen ten to 15 years ago, with a much greater emphasis on flexibility and mobile technologies.
As such, employers need to consider how best to integrate these aspects of modern working, while ensuring older workers stay up to date with the latest developments.
He commented: "It is [now common to see] a much more informal office environment, which allows people to work in different ways and therefore interact with each other."
Meanwhile, William Worthington, managing director of Eco Switch, recently noted that companies must also be aware of where their energy is coming from, as monitoring emissions from this area is an excellent way to improve a firm's green image and to reduce carbon output.
