Office design 'can cut stress'

Office design can reduce workplace stress, according to a new report.

Imperial Valley News suggests that implementing savvy office design in the workplace can help reduce pressure on employees.

Commenting that many Americans state that the work environment is a source of stress, the publication quotes designer Jonathan Fong as saying that the link between mood and environment can be altered.

"Our moods are affected by our immediate environments and we can change how we feel by changing our interiors," Fong told the news source.

Advice given in the report includes painting walls in soothing colours, working to minimise clutter and maximising the amount of sunlight in rooms.

Plants can introduce an element of nature to the workplace, as can tones and textures that suggest the natural world - this can have a calming effect, the publication advises.
