Office design must be "adaptable"

All companies should be aware of the important role that office design can play in promoting adaptability and flexibility in the workforce, it has been claimed.
Richard Kauntze, chief executive officer of the British Council for Offices, said an office needs to be adaptable in order to meet changing space requirements for tenants.
He commented: "Flexibility is very important and is perhaps not considered highly enough by some tenants ... business requirements can change very quickly and space requirements need to reflect that."
Mr Kauntze added that for smaller tenants in particular, less formal office arrangements are a growing trend that can help to promote a friendlier working atmosphere.
Elsewhere, head of the Environment Agency Malcolm Fergusson recently told attendees of the Sustainable Development conference in London that the introduction of the Carbon Reduction Commitment has seen more than 3,000 large organisations embracing sustainable office design and other measures to reduce their emissions over the last few months.
