Office design unveiled as part of London construction plans

A number of new office layouts are to be part of a major regeneration scheme in London's East End, it has been revealed.

In plans unveiled by the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) and planning minister Caroline Flint, various areas of the capital - including Barking Town, Lea River Park, South Dagenham and Bromley-by-Bow - will receive extra office space and new homes.

Under the proposals South Dagenham will receive some 90,000 sq m of commercial space, while Bromley-by-Bow and Leaside is set to benefit from 31,000 sq m business space, which could include new office fit outs.

Lorraine Baldry, chair of the LTGDC, said: "Our plan for the next three years is to drive forward schemes which will create a sense of place and belonging for local people and an environment that attracts new residents and people to settle."

Overall, the programme is worth £237 million.

In other office layout news, it was recently revealed that plans to redevelop an 18-storey building in the Waterloo district of London into 345,000 sq ft of modern office design were given the green light by Lambeth council.
