Manchester-based law firm McGrigor's has claimed that the city needs additional overseas investment in order to boost the take-up of office space.
At present, demand for office space is primarily from companies already in the city, Manchester Confidential reports.
However, there remains hope for the future due to the large numbers of developers that hold office stock in the city and the feeling that many people now want to do deals.
Luke Miotte, director of real estate at McGrigor's, told the publication: "I think Manchester is very lucky to have a lot of big private sector property developers. The big players are still there, even if they have had a hard time."
Meanwhile, Cushman & Wakefield's latest European City Monitor recently revealed that Manchester has moved up in its rankings to become the most popular city in the UK outside of London in which to do business.
The city moved up to 12th placing it ahead of Birmingham for the first time.
