Office rage 'sparked by rude colleagues, office layout and broken equipment'
10-10-2007
Long meetings which do not appear to have a point are the main cause of anger in offices in Europe, new research has suggested. The angriest workers in the UK appear to be in Cardiff, where some 69 per cent of respondents admitted to office outbursts, Birmingham and Belfast came in joint second place with 56 per cent each.
Newcastle, Dundee and Brighton employees were least prone to bouts of anger, the report indicates.
A study into 'office rage' found that office politics and poor manners are most likely to irk workers in the UK and Ireland, according to digital imaging firm Canon.
Items within the office layout were also found to be contributing factors to rage, while nearly 20 per cent of UK workers admit to attacking office equipment when it fails to work properly.
Last month, it was reported by the Baltimore Sun that an office employee frustrated with his office layout invented a doorbell for his cubicle to prevent unannounced co-workers from entering unannounced.
