A well-designed commercial property can lead to a happier, healthier workforce, it has been suggested.
Jordan Barowitz, spokesperson for US developer the Durst Organization, told news provider Tonic that an office refit can have a number of benefits for staff members.
His firm worked alongside the Bank of America to construct One Bryant Park, the country's greenest commercial building, which received a platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.
''Happiness and productivity is a huge selling point for people who rent in the building,'' Mr Barowitz said. "People are starting to realise that it makes economic sense."
He claimed figures have shown that contented workers can lead to between three and five per cent gains in terms of productivity.
Located on the corner of 42nd and Avenue of the Americas, One Bryant Park's design features include floor-to-ceiling windows to improve natural light sources and high-performance air filters, Tonic added.
