North-east businessman Alan Ferguson has purchased a new office interior development in Northumberland which he plans to use to help start-up firms in the area.
He is carrying out an office refurbishment programme on the 17-acre site, which once completed will offer 45,000 sq ft of office interior space.
Mr Ferguson, who is also chairman of the north-east Chamber of Commerce, commented: "I am keen to help businesses that are just starting or need to relocate for financial reasons, to ensure that we are doing what we can to encourage business start-up and survival in our region."
He noted that the premises simply require a quick "tidy up" and then they will be ready to take on new tenants.
Elsewhere in the region, Prospect Business Centres recently announced that it has completed a refurbishment project on an office property in York.
Newly-built Apollo House in Heworth Green is expected to see its first tenants moving in over the coming weeks, following extensive renovation and office refurbishment work at the site.
