Office refurbishment 'key to employee happiness'

The office environment is vital to creating a happy and productive workforce.
This is the opinion of Josh Hall, writing for Simply Business, who stated business space design is one of the "key factors" in keeping staff morale up.
He said: "Ergonomics is amongst the most important areas of office design - and yet it is also amongst the most frequently overlooked."
Back ache is a common complaint with many personnel, Mr Hall explained, while being uncomfortable in general is not conducive to boosting performance levels.
Creating distinct areas in the office can help, he added, as this leads to a sense of structure and organisation among employees.
Finally, it was advised to purchase good lighting in order to brighten a space, as dull illumination instead makes areas "feel cramped and claustrophobic".
Last month, Jordan Barowitz - spokesperson for US developer the Durst Organization - told Tonic that revamping an office benefits staff enough to make economic sense.
