Office space 'could be constructed in Manchester'
15-05-2008
An office fit out is to be at the heart of a proposed mixed-use development in Manchester, it has been revealed. The Stratum development, based in the Trafford district, consists of six buildings and 80,000 sq ft of office interiors.
In addition, the facility consists of 780 residential flats, a 190-bedroom hotel, retail and leisure units and parking for 700 vehicles.
Geoffrey Sparrow, investment director at Howard Holdings, said: "The first phase should take around 18 months and the second phase is expected to take two years.
"We are being flexible about what is delivered as part of each and will have to see how the market is at the time."
The site is located just 150 yards from Old Trafford - the home to Premiership champions Manchester United.
Two of the buildings will be large towers - the tallest of which could be up to 37 storeys high.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that permission had been granted for an office refit in the Northern Quarter area of Manchester in which facilities on Dale Street and China Lane will be redeveloped into the Turquoise Buildings, providing an office layout totaling 60,000 sq ft.
