Half of the UK’s office staff never work from home despite the benefits it could have to businesses across the country, a survey shows.
The poll of 2,000 people found that while 50% had never worked from home, a third were not given the option by their employers to work remotely from the office.
This was despite 35% saying this flexibility would make their life easier.
The survey, which was commissioned by LG IT Solutions and carried out by Vision Critical, aims to highlight a growing gap between workers needs and businesss policy.
It suggests that more flexible working could boost business efficiency and staff productivity in the UK economy.
The benefits to individuals are also highlighted as it shows the advantages technology and remote working can have on a person’s life balance and office work.
Mark Weston, channel manager from LG UK, said: "The importance of technology in the workplace is something that we are all aware of, but there are still some businesses stuck in the slow lane when it comes to enabling remote working.
"Technologies such as decent smartphones, laptops and tablets all enable employees to recreate the office environment at home and increase the productivity as well as the efficiency of the business overall.
"There are huge benefits to be had for both employees and employers with remote working, which can create a more relaxed and happy workforce, and keep businesses running even in the worst of situations."
