Sustainable office design could benefit from the uptake of more offshore wind energy production in the coming years, but the government needs to make further investment in the sector if real benefits are to be seen.
Mike Childs, head of the climate change campaign at Friends of the Earth, said the government must take the plunge and commit to developing this resource in the near future.
He commented: "At the moment, the government is unsure of how offshore wind is going to happen in practice. It is dealing with some of the planning issues but it hasn't yet decided how it deals with some of the investment risk part of the scenario."
According to Sam Jarvis, head of communications at Waste Watch, businesses could also benefit by reducing the amount of waste they create and upping recycling commitments.
Indeed, these sustainable office design practices could help firms significantly reduce their outgoings, providing a win-win situation for both companies and the environment.
