The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has announced plans to move its backroom operations for the next census to premises at Trafford Park in Manchester.
Details of the move have been worked out with the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Midas, Jobcentre Plus, LSC and Trafford Council, with the office relocation scheduled to take place before the end of the year.
It will see the ONS moving into 180,000 sq ft of office space at the business park.
"The NWDA has worked very closely with local partners and together have created a very strong team which has helped secure this investment and 1,300 new jobs for Trafford and the region," commented Steven Broomhead, chief executive of the NWDA.
Elsewhere in Manchester, media production firm Falling Pixel recently announced plans to move into new premises at Anvic Developments' Piccadilly House.
The company already operates out of offices in London and Colwyn Bay, but felt the opening of a new office in Manchester would help strengthen its position as one of the UK's leading 3D content providers.
