A university campus building in north Oxford has won an award celebrating sustainability in design practices.
The Ruth Deech Building in Woodstock Road - which forms part of St Anne's College - has been presented with the David Steel Sustainable Building Award, the Oxford Mail reports.
Continuing the sustainability theme, the award itself is made from recycled glass. Its name is borne in memory of David Steel, an Oxford council worker who was committed to his progressive work with the Climate Change Action Team.
The Ruth Deech building was recognised particularly for its use of solar energy, sustainable materials, A-rated domestic appliances and low-energy lighting.
Accepting the award, Martin Jackson, bursar of St Anne's, said: "We are delighted to receive this award - particularly as it is associated with David Steel - as recognition of our efforts to have greener buildings."
Last year's winner was the 34 East Street building in Osney Island.
