Permission granted for Edinburgh office fit out
28-04-2008
Duddingston House Properties has been given planning permission to carry out an office fit out in Scotland, it has been revealed. The Edinburgh-based firm has been given the green light to transform the former Job Centre, which is near to the Exchange District of the city, into an office layout providing some 40,000 sq ft of space.
In addition, the modern office design is set to incorporate elements of sustainability as the plans have been given a Breeam rating of excellence.
Close to Haymarket station, the 24-26 Torphichen Street building is to now be known as Haymarket Green.
The development was first built in the 1960s, with Jones Lang LaSalle and GVA Grimley appointed as joint letting agents.
Earlier this year, it was claimed that the opening of the Scottish parliament in Edinburgh has seen office space in the city become increasingly in demand.
Paula Fern, associate director of Jones Lang LaSalle's Edinburgh office, pointed out that "good-quality, open-plan" office interiors on flexible-lease terms are becoming evermore sought-after.
